Diamonds Amongst the Rough Foundation is dedicated to empowering the youth of Danville, IL by providing access to new opportunities and exposing them to a wide range of transformative experiences. Through a variety of events, mentorship, community engagement, and initiatives, we aim to inspire and uplift the next generation, helping them recognize their full potential, explore their passions, and develop the confidence to dream big. By catering to their unique needs, we aim to equip the next generation with the tools they need to thrive and succeed, while fostering a sense of belonging and purpose that will inspire them to reach their fullest potential.
A letter from the founder, Trent Sherfield
Dear Friends, as a proud native of Danville, IL, it’s a true honor to be able to give back to the community that raised me. Growing up here, I saw firsthand the potential in our youth, the dreams they carried, and the challenges they faced. Now, as a professional NFL player, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to travel the country, meet amazing people, and experience new places. These experiences have shaped me, but they’ve also opened my eyes to the reality that many communities, including Danville, need more support—especially when it comes to empowering the next generation.
It’s no secret that times have changed, and our community has faced its share of struggles. But what has never changed is the talent, resilience, and potential that runs through the heart of Danville. I’ve seen what’s possible when young people are given the right opportunities, the encouragement to dream big, and the support they need to achieve their goals. And that’s exactly why I started Diamonds Amongst the Rough.
Our mission is simple: to empower the youth of Danville by providing them with access to new opportunities, exposing them to new experiences, and creating a space where they can grow, dream, and thrive. Whether through community events, mentorship, or programs designed to inspire, we are committed to ensuring that the next generation knows that they are capable of greatness.
I believe deeply in the power of community and in the importance of uplifting each other. I’m dedicated to the future of Danville’s youth, and it’s my hope that through this foundation, we can help them realize their full potential and create brighter futures for themselves, their families, and our community as a whole.
